Jade and I went to the 4H Dog Expo yesterday in London, OH. It was terribly cold and miserably wet, but I think Jade and Jet learned some things. Jade chose to go with the less experienced showmanship group, but got some great tips on how to set up Jet on the table better and was a good example for some of the less experienced kids. 4H showmanship is interesting because any dog can participate of any breed or mix. They show them as the breed they most resemble.
They also did beginning Agility but really could have done the next level up – because all they did was preparation skills for Agility and didn’t get to do any of the obstacles – which Jade and Jet have been exposed to. Jet at first didn’t pay attention, and would not lay down on the cold concrete, but by the end and with some better tasting treats someone shared, Jade had Jet doing figure 8s around cones really well.
