“Hyacinth” is a twin to a two year old Icelandic ewe named Roxy. She is bright eyed and alert and we don’t see her coming in for feed in the barn very often, yet she and her sister, Primrose, are doing fine. Although Roxy had a rough start trying to produce enough milk for her two hungry girls and needed to spend some TLC time in the barn when she got really thin, the trio has been out on pasture mostly since then and handling parasites and heat very well. These two rate in the middle of my Average Daily Gain figures, but they are twins to a younger ewe and they weren’t on the bottom of the list and are nice looking, well built lambs. I”m seriously thinking of keeping one of them if I have space. I’m leaning more towards Primrose because I like her mouflon/badger pattern. These two are by my yearling ram, Ralph, who is related to Roxy, making them linebred. Roxy’s mother,Rose, is Ralph’s half sister.
